Ways to use in the classroom

Blogs can be an amazing tool you can and should use in classrooms no matter what the age level is. In today's society there is a large amount of technology used with everything, so as educators we need to provide that in their learning experiences so that they can be prepared. Here are some different ways that you can use blogs in classrooms:

Statistics/Math: follow stocks
Make their own blog with charts, etc to follow the economy

Reading: have them read on different subjects they like
pick a random blog each week on a different subject then have them journal about it

Social Studies: find a newspaper from a different world each month then follow what goes on it it
Have students create a blog about their community

Politics: find different blogs and keep track of the political campaigns
when running for school elections have students set up their own blogs

Classroom: Set up a blog for the classroom to let the parents know what is going on
Put up spelling words/assignments/lesson plans for students to follow

Library: Books reviews
Follow blogs on favorite genres/authors
Read blogs about various genres students usually do not read
Post what is new in the library
Make a feature section to post differnet books to get kids introduced to new ideas
Suggestion area of how to improve library
Ideas/activites for parents to do while they are at home with their students on weekends, vacations or breaks
